Speaking of witch, when someone is all nasty and perverted. Its always fun to leave an indirect insult, then leave the district for 15 minutes, just to see all hell broke loose.

Heh, I prefer to remain and watch the storm develop

Seriously though, i agree with the gist of this thread. There are a lot of 'immature children' (mentally, not necessarily physically) playing this game. It's time for the dev's to step iun with the big padded CLUEBAT and give these people one. Obviously it would take a small army to police each and every outpost 24/7 so thats not likely to happen, but they should have 3 or 4 people who randomly wander around, checking for this crap who are able to hand out 24 hour suspensions for it. Someone being a dumbass in chat would get the point I think if they suddenly lost connection, only to return to a sign that says "You now have 23 hrs and 57 minutes of suspension left, go outside and see the real sun, because you won't be seeing the ones in here for a day". Repeated offences would be tracked by the system and the punishment could escalate accordingly, say double for each detected offence (1,2,4,8,etc) till it hits a limit and goes, so long loser, spend $50 for a new chance to screw up.

Oh, please....
How about the human gene. Annonyminity + Internet = consequence-free environment for immature teens. It's not their parenting or their families or any nonsense like that, it's the environment and the (predictable) mischevious desire to shock people (such as yourself) that provokes it. I'm not praising it (though I really don't have any trouble ignoring it), but it's not like it indicates some sort of deep and troublesome psychological flaw. That's life.

Let's not get into a "downfall of society" talk here. Save that for off topic & absurd.

Part of the reason this doesnt take the priority is because of the massive amount of racism going on.

I do encourage, use the report system on this though. Its usauly pretty easy to get them to say something that later they will regret. Just dont say anything offensive, dont encourage the violent nature.

For example:
Some kid: I hate Jesus, I want him murdered
Me: Well not everybody gets what they want.
Some kid: Are you a christian
Me: Yes
Some kid: ******************************
(Screenshot)
Some kid: **************** your ******************
(Screenshot)
Some kid: ****************
(Screenshot)

In this situation I did nothing wrong, he ran off on his own.

I censored what he said because it was bad and sexaully oriented

Sadly I used SHIFT-Prntscreen to take the pictures...

If I do find him again i'm sure he will say something to be reported for.

My advice, report them. (And it wont be hard finding something against the rules)

Report it. Please.

We can gather chat messages from any part of the game. And, if reported, you can be sure that we will take the time to do so. If the behavior or the chat crosses the line -- if the comfort level is exceeded with exhibitionistic or offensively and overtly sexual conversation -- we will take action.

Gaile, could you detect a male warrior spamming the initial "humping" motion of his dance? (sorry). This is one of several emotes we have found to be offensive in practice. Maybe the person would be careful not to cross "the line" but still be distasteful. Usually we can handle this stuff, but sometimes people just seem to need beheaded.

changing the male warrior and ele dancing emote should cut down on the "humping" motion. i think it's pretty immature when some male warrior or ele starts their dance emote when standing either behind or infront of a female character. also when they use their dance emote on a female character who is sitting down making it look like, well, you know what i mean right? i have no problem with taking off armor and running around like an idiot because what's the harm in that. it's just senseless fun.

Actually, I popped into the last district of Lion's Arch (American servers) very late one night to complete a trade with a Pacific coast forum member. I discovered the boys there talking about sex and masturbation. I proceeded to give them correct information and answers to their questions, which is what their parents and schools should be teaching them. The problem is that many are lacking in proper education and that simply heightens their curiosity and increases their chances of experimentation, sometimes with detrimental results. I am a very big believer in educating growing teens about the human body and human sexuality. It prevents teen pregnancy and reduces the incidence of STDs in our youth. /offsoapbox

Two days...two reports

Compettition arena, some guy spamming "f*** you all".
One member of our group left because of it. I told the culprit i was reporting him and i left too.

I don't mind sparing a moment of my time to help keep the community clean and pleasant. We'd all benefit if we took the same approach.

what a joke. anyone that "falls in line" because some random person in a game starts typing in all caps (you say "parent mode" i say "i like to pretend i have authority mode") is probably just some kid looking for attention anyway. i've been told more than a dozen times that my account would be suspended, banned, my ip would be banned, my isp would be called. guess what's happened? nothing

screenshots. because everyone knows how IMPOSSIBLE those are to fake, right? http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/main.html

anyone that wants to cry about this word or that slur needs to adjust their chat filter. the end.

Yeah it's pretty disgusting. I occasionally have people asking for "lap dances" and cyber and what not. Really sicks me out. I don't need that sort of crap.

I very often turn local chat off. Especially when there is an ignorant discussion going on. I really just don't have the patience or tolerance to listen to people who need to advance out of adolescence. (not that all adolescences are completely stupid, just some, and they sure give you guys a bad name, those bastards)

:P

I agree with your post about different things having different meanings to different cultures, but your choice of verbs was humorous.

Personally, I could care less what everybody says in local chat. I never have it turned on. I also have the chat filter turned off so I can express myself properly in the game. At least the one person why tried to have cybersex with me was nice enough to do it in a whisper.

Like GW Monkey said on the first page;

"Just tune it out"

This works for me. I have been playing MMo's since Runescape (God Forbid )

So, In there past 7 years of playing online, it dosent bother me at all. I have just learned to ignore it, and currently, I dont even notice it. Sure, swearing alot tends to bother me ,and even tho I am white as snow , the N-word Pisses the crap out of me. I cant stand it when people use racial slurs to make fun of or dishone people because of thier skin color, race, or beliefs.

And even tho these things bother me I still use them (xcept for the N-word, cybering) I swear. Plain and simple. I swear when I die, I SWEAR when I see black or silver dye on the ground and it assigned to other people. Usually it is offscreen, but it sometimes gets on the screen if I am very pissed off, like this one time

I highered a Guy to run me to the forge. We got to the first portal (cant remember what its called) and my CPU crashed. So I logged back on, and tried again. Crashed again. One more timeI said to myself, One more time, and if It crashes, I throw it out the window. Well, It didnt crash, but I ended up getting scammed out of 1k, so now I eventually got to the forge, but I am scronging anound for money like a Bum.

Well, back to the topic.
Just ignore it man, it works
